The first project is only really a small one, where we have to concept, model, unwrap, texture, feedback and re-texture 6 assets based around a Norse theme, all in rotation. Meaning everyone gets a go at doing everything. So far I feel its worked really well, anything anyone has had trouble with has been helped with another group member. Its a really good way to not only get used to working in teams, but to get better at concepting, modeling and texturing, especially with the new albedo, roughness and metalness maps being introduced.
Here's a barrel I modeled for this project based on a concept from Christy. Its a "stubby" barrel designed to sit on the edge of a table, I believe its only about knee height. the model is only 600 tris, the majority of which went into the tap.
The second is a larger and longer project. In which we have to find a room within a film and reconstruct it as a maket at first, and then in 3ds max with the same camera angle after. We haven't got all the details yet but, I know enough to know that its cant be too dark and boring. Preferably the room shouldn't be from an animated film either, and should have relatively interesting lighting.
So far, as a group, we've got a few ideas in the bank. The first of which, Balin's tomb, was to dark and boring, and with too many assets.
And so were some of our other ideas.
At the moment I think we are swaying towards either the scene in X men First class or Old Boy, more than likely it will be X men as half of the team haven't seen Old boy. And tomorrow when we find out the entire brief of the project we'll decide what we are going to do then.
