Welcome all, I'm not going to start this blog with a cheesy one liner or tell you about how iv'e loved art from the second i was born, because i haven't, but what i will tell you is a little bit about myself, nothing fancy or exciting just the basics.
I'm Carl, I've done GCSE, AS, A2, foundation, and now i'm doing Game Art Design at DMU, and the other week we got told that everything up until this point is useless, were "a clean slate" i think he put it, so scrap all that, apart from the Carl bit obviously. I'm by no means an amazing artist, especially now that I've seen some of the fellow talent on my course, i mean WOW!!! How have you guys not got jobs in the industry already. Its safe to say i now feel a bit low on the talent scale of our group, but ill get there, that's why i'm here right.
I like to think i'm pretty good at life drawing, as I've done this before on my foundation course, and anatomy is something I've been working on, so i'd like to think i'm alright at it, apart from faces that is, but i'm working on that too.
Digital painting is something i really want to learn and work on, I've done a bit, and experimented with Photoshop and a drawing tablet to a certain extent, but i'm by no means, shall we say, any good. Its quickly become my favorite medium of art, but its seems so hard to learn and what i have done i'm not impressed with, i know i cant expect to pick up my wacom and create a masterpiece, but im damn well gonna give it a go.
3D is something I've never done before, so its a new and exciting prospect to me, i'm loving it so far, and i'm surprised at how much we've made in the first few weeks, texturing is my next challenge, and what we've been told about it hasn't really sunk in, but it will, all in good time.
As a whole the course is exactly what i expected, really glad i chose DMU, beautiful place, great social events, some really interesting people, and most important, the academic side is amazing too.
Well that's about it so far, ill keep you posted on my work, thanks for reading.
